Born in Manchester, raised in Cyprus by Anglo-Armenian parents; a mixed bag of cultures, temparements and delicious foods have shaped Emma's life and we must say, often her shapely body, which has continually changed size and amazed her friends over the many years.....
On a serious note (B flat possibly?!) Emma lives and works in Cambridge; balancing her teaching with performing and composing. She is in demand as an accompanyist and composer. She studied music at Anglia Ruskin with John Hopkins and Philip Mead, then in France with Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod. She has written music for film, theatre and for individual commisions - examples of her music to listen to or purchase are available on this website. Emma is currently collaborating with artist Sarah Blake on a series of paintings for piano and trombone and a large scale orchestral piece based on ancient Buddhist texts. In December this year she is leading a festival dedicated to the music of Olivier Messiaen at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre.
